SAIDI: The Best Red Light for the Electromagnetic Hypersensitive

Engineers Know How to Test and Measure

LaTour tests his red light therapy devices’ irradiance, flicker, and non-natural EMFs. If you’ve shopped for a red light device, you might remember seeing this notice:

As someone who researches red light therapy companies and devices, I believe that LaTour’s advice about red light therapy power is spot on correct. So many device descriptions out there say that this or that red light therapy device runs at 100 mW/cm^2. It’s ALWAYS 100 mW/cm^2. That’s suspicious. All these different designs, transformers, beam angles, and they all offer 100 mW/cm^2 of healthy photons per second.

They don’t! Several of us in the community have tested red light therapy devices and found them to be much less powerful than advertised. LaTour measures and reports on his GembaRed’s specifications. He doesn’t let his company’s marketing give in to pressure to “compare well” with 100 mW/cm^2 claims. Those devices are less powerful than claimed. LaTour’s devices are exactly what his marketing says they are.

If You Get the Dose Wrong, Red Light Won’t Work

I can’t even begin to tell you how utterly important this fact is to you getting the correct dose of red light from your therapeutic device.  The body’s cytochromes absorb the light to create energy, nitric oxide, and other helpful reactions. If the cytochrome doesn’t get enough light, nothing happens. If the cytochromes get too much light, therapeutic gains REVERSE.

You need to get the right amount of light each session.  The device’s irradiance determines how many photons (joules) you get per second. If you depend on a light to have 100 mW/cm^2 irradiance, you are expecting it to give you .1 joule per second, or 6 joules per minute. If that 100 mW device is really a 33 mW/cm^2 device, you’re not getting 6 joules per minute. You’re getting two joules per minute. So irradiance accuracy matters! An overstated irradiance will leady you to treatment times that are too short to achieve your therapeutic goals. Then you’ll throw your light away while saying “this doesn’t work.” It does work, if your device’s specs are correct.

Who Benefits from the GembaRed SAIDI Light?

The 635 nm wavelength is orange. The 670 nm looks red. And the lights that look like they’re not on at all? They’re the 850 nm wavelength. If you’re not sure your lamp is working, take a picture of it. Our eyes cannot see 850 nm light.

The SAIDI light from GembaRed outputs three healing wavelengths in the red and infrared ranges. The red lights are 630 nm and 660 nm wavelengths. The infrared is 850 nm wavelength. We know that the body responds positively to all wavelengths within a range. Therefore it’s safe to assume that the 630 and 660 in the SAIDI will act similarly to the results achieved in studies using everything from 620 nm to 670 nm.

The best way I have found to determine a good red light therapy schedule is to copy the successful light therapy studies. I’ve documented many of these studies in the EMF Channel Light Dose Database. Use the database to search for 635 nm, 660 nm and 850 nm studies, or search the Red and Infrared colors to find studies you can copy with your SAIDI light.

The Best Red Light Therapy for the Electromagnetic Hypersensitive User

Two  flaws can ruin your day using some red light therapy devices. These are the emission of non-natural EMFs and the light’s flicker rate. Non-natural EMFs are the unintended electromagnetic fields that a device’s motors give off. In a light, the nnEMFs come from the transformer and fan motor.

The SAIDI does not have a transformer, because it runs on a rechargeable battery. Any unintended EMFs created during the charging process happen at the power source. The battery-powered device is not generating power, so it doesn’t output nnEMFs while you use it.

The SAIDI is a small device with openings for airflow. The fan is the other nnEMF generator in most red light therapy devices. The SAIDI doesn’t use a fan, so there’s no fan to emit nnEMFs.
